To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the re-birth of Redbreast, Master Blender Billy Leighton and Blender David McCabe, have reimagined a historic member of the family, Redbreast 10-Year-Old.
It’s more traditional pot still distillates married with the finest oloroso sherry butts and bourbon casks, produce a flavour that harkens back to a bygone age of whiskey.
Intense aromatics of honeycomb and cedarwood with earthy notes, dried tobacco leaf and worn leather. Dark fruits linger in the background and slowly develop overtime along with toasted almonds and demerara sugar, while a pot still spice intensity continues to build, adding to the complexity of flavours layered over a strong foundation of oak.
Rich in tannins that work in tandem with the inclusion of traditional pot still distillate creating balance between oak and spirit. The oloroso wine casks emerge to contribute marzipan and fig along with subtle hints of mixed berry compote, while delicate touches of vanilla and treacle are found lingering in the background.
The pot still spices rise to a crescendo and then finally give way to the toasted oak and delicate sweetness that lingers until the very end.

Where to begin? 1912, probably. The year the chairman of W&A Gilbey spotted the Robin Redbreast through the trees and decided on the name, there and then.
The name stuck, the reputation grew, and the bird made his way onto the label and now onto your screens.
